Among the most striking is that Huawei announced that it will soon enter the development of sensors such as lidar and millimeter wave radar. Huawei believes that every car will become a mobile data center in the future. When the car is truly moving towards autonomous driving, sensors such as lidar, millimeter-wave radar, and cameras need to be configured on it. At the same time, in this case, the demand for information processing capabilities and data transmission capabilities is huge.
In the first direction, Huawei wants to build an MDC intelligent driving platform based on Huawei's rising chip, plus an intelligent driving operating system and autonomous driving cloud services. Huawei will open APIs again through the intelligent driving platform and work with partners such as component providers, integrators, and application developers to build three ecosystems:
Sensor ecology, including lidar, millimeter wave radar, camera and so on. Make these sensors easy to interface with MDC. As one of the options, Huawei will also use its 5G technology to develop millimeter-wave radar to achieve all-weather imaging. At the same time, Huawei will also make full use of the world's leading optoelectronic technology to develop lidar, which truly solves the cost and performance problems facing lidar. . Intelligent driving application ecology. Huawei hopes to create an algorithm and application ecosystem based on MDC, and hopes that its partners will develop applications and algorithms for intelligent driving based on MDC to support the automotive industry to continuously provide innovative functions and services for intelligent driving. Connect the MDC with various execution components, and build the standard of the interface, so that the MDC can easily cooperate with all the execution components.
Any intelligent driving requires a powerful brain. On the road to fully autonomous driving. Huawei has already carried out a lot of research and development work. "We can do everything Tesla can do now." Xu Zhijun said. "In this process, Huawei conducted a lot of actual road tests. In order to make a good smart driving platform, we also developed smart driving software, and now we do the best in China."
The lidar developed by Huawei is fully geared towards autonomous driving and hopes to continue to reduce costs after its introduction. "At least for now, there is no sensor that can replace lidar in the field of autonomous driving." Xu Zhijun said.
The second direction is to build a smart cockpit platform. Huawei's core philosophy is to integrate the smart cockpit platform with the entire smart terminal ecosystem. Huawei hopes to bring the smart terminal hardware ecology, software ecology, and application ecology to the smart cockpit. They will build a smart cockpit platform based on the smartphone Kirin chip and the Hongmeng operating system. At the same time, Huawei hopes that the hardware, software, and applications of the smart cockpit can be continuously updated.
The HiCar solution provided by Huawei includes front-end and back-end, and has already cooperated with auto brands such as Volvo. In Huawei's vision, the future intelligent cockpit will be basically realized by voice control.
The third direction is to build a smart electric platform, so that car companies can form a differentiated experience in electric. They want to develop an MCU and build a complete vehicle control operating system based on the MCU. Based on this operating system, it is open to all automobile development companies to continuously improve the user's differentiated experience. All car companies based on the VDC platform can better do differentiated vehicle control. Regarding the cost of electric vehicles, Huawei stated that Huawei has a scale of US $ 5 billion in the energy industry. It can take full advantage of the scale of the energy industry and the consistency of devices to reduce the cost of electrification and solve the problems of charging, electric drive and battery management Cost and performance issues.
